Ray Lewis has extended his career at least one more game this Saturday in Denver.

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional playoff game 38-35 in a double overtime win. Lewis, the 17 year veteran linebacker plans on retiring after this season. He led the Ravens with 17 tackles in this 76 minute, 42 second game. The game was close the whole time, and the Broncos led all the way near the end of the 4th quarter 35-28. Then on 3rd-and-3 from his own 30, with 31 seconds left, Joe Flacco launched the ball deep down field to Jacoby Jones. Although in double coverage, Jones slipped away from Denver safety Rahim Moore, who misplayed the ball, and caught it for a 70 yard touchdown pass to tie the game. Justin Tucker of the Ravens then kicked the game winning 47 yard field goal 1:42 into the second overtime. The Ravens will go on to play the New England Patriots in a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game. Flacco was 18/34 passing with three touchdowns and 331 yards. Opposing quarterback Peyton Manning threw for three touchdowns and a surprising two interceptions.

This Sunday, the veteran back up QB Charlie Batch may have played the last game of his NFL career. But if that is true, he left on a good note. He completed 25 out of his 36 pass attempts, and  threw for 276 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Batch won his 6th start out of nine in his 11 year career with Pittsburgh. The Steelers were down the majority of the game, and came back from down 7 points in the fourth quarter. Batch turns 38 this Wednesday, and has been with the team longer than most players among currently active ones. A third-string quarterback, he could have just possibly saved the Steelers's playoff chances. The Steelers came back in the fourth quarter for the win. Linebacker James Harrison sacked Ravens' QB Joe Flacco, and forced him to fumble. Batch then completed all of his passes on the game-tying drive. Batch then connected to tight end Heath Miller around the 7  minute mark, where he had to dive and barely touched the pylon before going out of bounds. But he tied the score at 20-20, and Shaun Suisum kicked the game winning 42 yard field goal, and Pittsburgh won 23-20, in Baltimore.

This year, the race for NFL's 2012-13 Most Valuable Player has a lot of potential candidates, who all seem pretty deserving as of right now. In a survey of five team executives, two voted for Patriots' QB Tom Brady. Brady is second in the NFL in rating at 105.0, and the Pats are 8-3 so far. He stands only behind last year's MVP Aaron Rodgers, who leads with a 105.6 rating and is 7-4 with the Green Bay Packers. But if you ask me, I think the award should go to Broncos' QB Peyton Manning. Manning is already in the heat for Comeback Player of the Year after missing all of last season and has a current 104.8 rating, second best of his 14 year career, excluding last year which he missed. Manning has completed 277 passes in 409 attempts for 3,260 yards and 26 touchdowns. So far he is 3rd in the league in rating (behind Rodgers and Brady), and 3rd in touchdowns and completion percentage (67.7%). Other than QBs, RB Adrian Peterson is having a comeback season as well, and is leading the league in rushing yards with 1,236, another 185 yards in 35 receptions, and all coming after a torn ACL in December. J.J. Watt and the Texans are 10-1 and he has 14 1/2 sacks, 12 tackles for losses, and 13 passes knocked down. Other contenders include Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who with 17 touchdowns to only four interceptions, can still comeback after a rib injury missing two weeks, both in which the Steelers lost. Matt Ryan started the Falcons to 9-0, and are currently 10-1. He has 21 touchdowns this season and 3,424 yards passing.

This Sunday, Drew Brees and the Saints became first to down the high-flying Atlanta Falcons of 2012. Brees was 21-32 in passing, with 298 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Tight end Jimmy Graham caught seven passes for a career-best 146 yards receiving. He also had two touchdowns to complement the win. Matt Ryan was stellar as usual, throwing for his career-best 411 yards and was 34-52 in pass attempts. But he got a little shaky when it seemed like he could have the game-winner to Harry Gonzalez on second down at the 1-yard line in the fourth quarter. Then New Orleans stopped Michael Turner for a 1-yard loss. Then Jabari Greer made a diving pass break up on fourth down that was intended for Roddy White. The Saints now move up to 4-5, after a disappointing 0-4 start. The Falcons, this being their only loss thus far, are 8-1. But now they don't have to worry about perfection, just about winning in the playoffs this year which they are bound to make. And hopefully, they'll get past the first round where last year they were knocked out by the eventual champions, New York Giants. Next week the Saints will face the Oakland Raiders, and the Falcons will play the Arizona Cardinals.

Poor Cleveland Browns lost to the Baltimore Ravens 25-15. They lost 2-7 games this season. Browns in my opinion should just lose the rest of their games ( except the Browns vs Pittsburgh game) and get the 1st round draft pick. Browns are on the road going to face Dallas Cowboys Sunday the 18th at Dallas's home field. Maybe Browns will win it is too hard to say for sure so tune in on the 18th to see if the Browns will win or even lose.

This past Sunday, rookie QB for the Colts Andrew Luck, the first overall draft pick this year for Indianapolis broke the record for most passing yards in a single game for a rookie. Luck threw for 433 yards in a 23-20 win over Ryan Tannehill, another good rookie QB, and the Miami Dolphins. He broke the record, previously held by Cam Newton, who set it just last year. The Colts, now at 5-3 after their 3rd strait win, are now within decent playoff contention. Coach Chuck Pagano, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia provided inspiration for the Colts to win. Luck completed 30 of 48 passes, and converted 13 of 19 third-down chances. Rookie T.Y. Hilton made a leaping 36 yard touchdown catch, when Luck threw right into Dolphin double coverage.

Well, we're half way through the 2012-13 NFL season, and it's been more or less what people have expected, depending on who you're rooting for. Here's a little summary of the better, or worse, teams in the NFL thus far.

Bottom 5 teams:
 5. Cleveland Browns: With Trent Richardson developing greatly, along with the rest of the roster, keep a close eye on this 2-6 bunch.

4. Oakland Raiders. From a steady team last year, they had to take the Jaguars into overtime, at home, to win.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars. They did beat the Colts, but are struggling with injuries.

2. Carolina Panthers. They can't hold on to a lead, only winning against New Orleans, but Cam Newton is doing better, and they do face an even worse team on Dec. 2  which is the...

1. Kansas City Chiefs. Their lone win coming off an overtime field goal, they face a tough remaining schedule of Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, and twice Denver.

Well, we're half way through the 2012-13 NFL season, and it's been more or less what people have expected, depending on who you're rooting for. Here's a little summary of the better, or worse, teams in the NFL thus far.

Top 5 teams:
 1. Atlanta Falcons. Undefeated in their first seven games with a +71 point differential, they have a good QB in Matt Ryan and should continue to do well, and perhaps go further in the playoffs than last year when they were knocked out the first round by eventual champions, New York Giants.

  2. Houston Texans. At 6-1, the Texans can count on RB Arian Foster to make a statement against  Buffalo this Sunday, who are last in the league in rushing defense. So far Foster has 659 yards rushing on 168 attempts and nine touchdowns. J.J. Watt powers the defense with 34 tackles, 7 1/2 tackles for a loss, and two fumble recoveries.

 3. Indianapolis Colts. Rookie Andrew Luck has shown  hope for Indy in wins over the Packers and Vikings. Winners of three out of their last four games, they face three teams with winning records in their next nine.

4. Denver Broncos. With veteran Peyton Manning leading the way, the Broncos can expect another return to the playoffs with an easy schedule consisting of only one playoff team from last year.

5. Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite some injuries and struggles at the beginning of the season, the Steelers are starting to look like their old selves again in their last two games. QB Ben Roethlisberger and TE Heath Miller lead the way.

Don't worry. This is as close to impossible as you can really get. But head coach Bill Belichik could really use former assistant Eric Mangini. Yes, the same Mangini that revealed the Patriot's videotaping other team's practices. Remember? Their "undefeated" season? Anyway, although Mangini's return is unlikely, he sure could do some adjusting to the Patriot's secondary. New England's pass defense was one of the worst to reach the Super Bowl last season. And if your a Seahawks fan, you'll remember the love of how your rookie QB Russel Wilson torched NE for 6 plays of 20 yards or longer, including the game-winning touchdown in Week 6.  So even at 4-3, atop the AFC East, New England can really use the boost. Last year was an exception. The Pats lost to high-quality teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and eventual champion New York Giants in the first half of the year. So even though they put up some unattractive numbers last year, they fell to the likes of Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, Tony Romo, and Philip Rivers. But this year the only dangerous QBs faced so far have been Peyton Manning and Joe Flacco. The only even considerably threatening one left is Matt Schaub. In other words, the Patriots secondary is putting up poor numbers, but against lesser teams this year. What happens if they have to go up against some serious competition? So that is why having Eric Mangini back could provide help to New England, before it's too late.

First round pick out of Baylor for the Washington Redskins, Robert Griffin III learned his lesson from the two-time Super Bowl MVP younger Manning. The 'skins were down 20-16 in the fourth quarter when they completed a 77 yard drive capped of by a 30 yard touchdown pass by RG3 to Santana Moss. RG3 threw 20 completions out of 28 attempts for 258 yards two touchdowns and one interception. Washington kept the drive alive on a fourth-and-10 when RG3 scrambled to get a first down. He ended up rushing for 83 yards on only nine carries. But with 1:13 left on the clock, it took Eli Manning one play to complete a game-winning pass to Victor Cruz. Manning has an impressive 22 fourth-quarter comeback history, this being his second of the season and 8th over the past two seasons. The New York Giants now move up to 5-2 atop the NFC East, while the Redskins drop to 3-4.
